Paolo BALLIRANO

Full professor of Mineralogy at the Department of Earth Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome. He was awarded in 1994 by the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology(SIMP) for the best Italian PhD thesis of the year and in 1997 he received by SIMP the Ugo Panichi prize as the best Italian young researcher in the mineralogical field. Since 1997 is Active Member of the International Center for Diffraction Data (ICDD). Principal areas of research are zeolites crystal chemistry, medical geology and mineral fibres in particular, phase transitions, X-ray powder diffraction.

SECTION EDITORS
Luca BINDI
MINERALOGY and CRYSTALLOGRAPHY

Luca Bindi holds the Chair of Mineralogy and Crystallography in the Department of Earth Sciences in the University of Florence. He has received numerous national and international scientific awards that include the President of the Republic Prize 2015 of the National Academy of Lincei.

Alessandro PACELLA
MINERALOGY and CRYSTALLOGRAPHY

Alessandro Pacella currently works as a researcher in Mineralogy at the Department of Earth Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome. His interests are keenly devoted to the study of crystal chemistry and surface reactivity of amphibole and zeolite fibres involved in environmental and health issues.

Antonio DOMENECH
POROUS MATERIALS

Antonio Doménech-Carbó is Professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Valencia. His research is centered on the application of solid state electrochemistry to porous materials and cultural heritage. Currently, he is also Topical Editor of the J. Solid State Electrochem.

Francesca CASTORINA
GEOCHEMISTRY

My research concern focuses on Sr and Nd isotopic geochemistry. Current projects include: radiogenic isotopes (Sr, Nd) and REE application to magmatic, hydrothermal ore deposit, and sediments. Moreover, Sr isotopes are also used as provenance indicators in archaeological contexts.

Orlando VASELLI
GEOCHEMISTRY

Associate Professor of Geochemistry and Volcanology at the University of Florence. Head of the Dept. of Earth Sciences (Nov 2008-Dec 2012). Associate researcher of CNR-IGG; UN consultant for the volcanic crisis of Nyiragongo. Scientific responsible of national and international projects mostly focused on fluid geochemistry in volcanic, geothermal and anthropogenic-polluted areas. Reviewer of and co-author in peer-review journals.

Caterina DE VITO
ARCHAEOMETRY and CULTURAL HERITAGE

Caterina De Vito, PhD (Earth Sciences) and researcher of Department of Earth Sciences (University of Sapienza, Rome, Italy), focuses her research on the study of granitic pegmatites, carbon dioxide sequestration viamineral sequestration and characterization of materials used in the Cultural Heritage field. She resulted to be among the Best Professors of the Faculty of Sciences (Sapienza University of Rome, Italy) for the academic years 2012-2013 and 2016-2017. She published various papers in peer reviewed journals.

Silvano MIGNARDI
ORE DEPOSITS and ENVIRONMENT

Silvano Mignardi, PhD is a researcher at the Department of Earth Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. His current research focuses on the immobilization mechanisms of toxic metals in water and soil by phosphate treatment. Another main research topic is COsequestration by mineral carbonation.

Gilles CHAZOT
PETROLOGY

Born in 1965. PhD in 1993 at ENS Lyon (France) about petrology and geochemistry of Yemen Large Igneous Province. Assistant professor at "Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans" in Clermont-Ferrand (France) from 1996 to 2007. Professor at "Laboratoire Géosciences Océan" in Brest since 2007.

Silvio MOLLO
PETROLOGY

My research concerns the natural processes controlling the evolution of magmas during crystallization, contamination and mixing at crustal levels. Through experimental petrology, I also investigate and calibrate models describing the compositional variations of minerals and melts under (dis)equilibrium P-T-fO2-H2O conditions.

Danilo Mauro PALLADINO
